Ten minutes of infernal racket starting just before 1:30 a.m. heralded yet another mixed message from the PMUA.
From the web site:
"PMUA Closed Monday 5/30 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Garbage collection will resume Tuesday, May 31st."
From my window? A bit of a wake-up call for those trying to sleep.
This happens on every holiday. Hope the workers are getting double or triple overtime for working on a designated holiday or a Sunday, however you reckon it. See you on Sunday, July 3 or Monday, July 4, guys!

Hey, Bernice, much as I like Bobby and the rest of the PMUA guys who cover our neighborhood, I have to ask what they would be paid "double" or "triple" time (our money, after all) for when we were instructed by management NOT to put out trash. Are Eric and Dave paying that double and triple time personally to cover what's clearly their screw-up?
ReplyDeleteBernice -- is the PMUA violating a sound ordinance by their 1:30 am work schedule? If a contractor wanted to jackhammer sidewalks at 1:30, wouldn't there be an issue? Why are noisy trucks allowed to operate at those hours?
ReplyDeleteBy city ordinance, the trucks shouldn't be collecting prior to 5:30AM. Maybe they were using the European time zone.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Pat, no double or triple time should be paid for collecting garbage when they stated they would be closed.
