"I Have Nothing To Say"

After spending some post-midnight hours reviewing the blog for unfinished business in 2012, I had a list of about a dozen items. For example, in May Council President Adrian Mapp asked for a complete accounting of what is being done with the Uran Enterprise Zone money since it was turned back to the city. Corporation Counsel Dan Williamson left the city with the matter of a quarter-million dollars debt claimed by developer Glen Fishman unresolved. Councilwoman Rebecca Williams began asking early for a full review of costs and city pay-outs for the July 7 events, but so far no luck.

This backlog of chapters with no ending in sight struck me as slightly absurd, which naturally made me think of Laurel & Hardy. At least when those guys had a situation, Oliver Hardy could twiddle his tie and declare, "Another nice mess you've gotten me into."

Click here and you will see a full array of Laurel & Hardy lines. Having drawn a blank on where to start with all the unfinished business, I must state, "I have nothing to say."

  1. Unresolved issues..
LAUGHABLE anywhere else.. Status Quo for Plainfield.
The New Dems' CANNOT help or solve the issue as their only stated goal is "Let's get along".
Kissing the school yard bully's ass may prevent you from getting beat up on Monday..but his lack of respect for your resolve means you've always got one coming on back up.
No one who has the answers to these on going issues and issues from the past feels the least beat accountable because they know all they have to do is WAIT.
Wait is what wins over the FIGHTING FOR THE PEOPLE NEW DEM'S every time... The Mayor knows it, Jerry knows it.. all of their puppets know it. The only ones who don't know it yet are the New Dem's who continually throw their arms up and say, " I asked ".
Why don't you go to Mapp's BBQ Bernice and maybe he'll be willing to hand out all the answers with the free food.

    2. I'm convincing the New Dem's that voting intelligently may have gotten someone like Roni Taylor on the City Council and then some problems could have been solved instead of staring blindly into the light and repeating "It's all about Obama in 2012, All For the Party, Unity Now" whilst the ones they decry when they have the podium run circles around them with their shenanigans showing the whole world what a lot of fools they truly are. Now, because the people of Plainfield voted the Way MAPP and STORCH have preached ---- PARTY FIRST, OBAMA IN 2012 we have Brown coming into the city council turning any attempt at common sense, fiscal responsibility and taxpayer accountability into a complete laugh. There will be 4 instead of 3 "PLanters of Lips" on butt to the Mayor on City Council.. You think it's been so bad the last couple years... STRAP YOURSELF IN BUDDY..here comes the real ride...

    3. You seem very intelligent and I am being sincere. I also wanted Taylor to win. Why don't you be a part of a movement to get Plainfielders to vote intelligently?

    4. If Adrian Mapp and Cory Storch can't vote intelligently and they lead the cause for the only faction with a chance at changing anything in Plainfield what chance is there for anything or anyone else???

  2. This town is full of half finished and quarter baked projects. Tree planting and inventory, sewer inspection/replacement. Those are just the obvious ones. How many economical development plans, plazas, neighborhood playgrounds have been pitched. Pools that would offer lessons to produce our own Olympic stars that do not have functioning bathrooms. Downtown parking plans, yet find a painted parking space on West Front St from Madison to Liberty [crossing lines for the King's Daughter was promised also]. Oh wait at least we saved the historic house on Terrill Road, it is a fire trap, but we saved it!! Teppers community room, fountain in the high school park and Route 28 to the County responsibility for some other time.

  3. To 8:23am - you have a great point about Plainfielders voting intelligently, but Bernice is not responsible for that. The citizens are. I believe that Jerry Green has employed a large group of people, and has instilled fear that if they do not vote for his people, they will lose their jobs.

I also believe that there is a large group of people in Plainfield who are not smart when it comes to politics. They vote for their favorite person, reverend, relative, or whoever will buy their vote. Therein lies the problem.

I think Bernice does a great job of bringing the facts to the people, it is the people who seem to not be able to vote intelligently.

  4. We shouldn't place the blame solely on the residents of our city who do come out to vote. These citizens at the very least (which is all of us I presume who read these blogs and respond included) recognize the importance of voting.
There are many residents of this city who choose to not come out to vote for whatever reason.

The real question is are we making educated votes in our best interest?
Those of us who do vote for any an election President on down make these decisions for a number of reasons. I won't presume to to to know why because I agree or dis agree that's fruitless.

We the voters only need to focus locally on our city and it's overall state to gauge whether we as individuals have made the right decision with our vote.

One last comment what bothers me the most with our society nationally and locally speaking is the point that people come and vote then go back to living their life thinking the politicians we put in office are going to look out for our best interest. There's no thought of we put you there now were going to follow up and hold you accountable. It's akin to the coyote guarding the hen house the coyote can't eat all the hens because it would mean his end but if he eats a few every so often he can make a case of well "I'm protecting the flock and some losses are expected.
