Mosque Hosts Mayoral Debate

Masjidullah Plainfield Inc. and The Muslim League of Voters, New Jersey Chapter will hold a mayoral panel discussion on Oct. 13.

The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the mosque, 321 Grant Ave. A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion.

Mayoral candidates in the Nov. 5 general election include Councilman and Democratic primary winner Adrian Mapp, Republican Sandy Spector and independents D. Scott Belin and Mustapha Muhammad. Organizers of the panel discussion said all were invited, but Mapp has declined due to a prior commitment.

For more information, call Mahdee Najeeullah at (908) 208-1704.

    2. Thank you. We need a mayor with some experience and not another Sharon.

  2. The NAACP debate is a joke and is always partisan. The mayor's husband is the president. The league of women Voters forum is the standard with an impartial moderator from the state.

  3. Bernice,
I plan to accept and attend each and every forum, panel, town hall and debate that is possible prior to the November 5, 2013 election. I believe as candidates we should make every attempt to do so. This office we seek should not be taken lightly by the candidates or the voters. The voters deserve every opportunity to meet, and hear what each candidate will bring to the office.

My campaign is hosting a meet and greet this Wednesday at the Y.W.C.A. at 7:00 PM EST, I hope to see you so we may meet and talk. I will send you a copy of the flyer.

    D. Scott Belin, PMP
    Candidate for Mayor

    2. How can you know about the office if you don't know what is going on in the city? I have never seen you at a council meeting, ward meeting, budget meeting or special meeting.
