New Contractor Completing Failed March 21 Demolition

Work was proceeding briskly at 117-125 North Avenue Tuesday, the site of a partial demolition on March 21 that was halted after debris crushed a neighboring restaurant. Yanuzzi Group of Kinnelon was the successful bidder for the job. (Click on images to enlarge.)
As the excavator scooped up material, workers pulled out metal and separated wood and bricks.
The machine uncovers a boiler.
A peek through the fence shows the volume of debris that must be removed.
The rubble was cleared to basement level along the wall next to the damaged restaurant. I wondered whether there were vaults under the sidewalk as found in other North Avenue buildings, but could not get an answer. The demolition may produce business for the PMUA in its role as a "materials recovery facility," or MRF, a designation granted in February 2012.
