No, Nameless Nudgers!

fightbugs.com
So some anonymouses - anonymice? - are demanding that critics of the PMUA show the credentials that entitle them to have opinions, such as degrees as CPAs, auditors, attorneys, etc. The last time I looked, the only piece of paper needed to voice an opinion was the First Amendment.

Someone also took my mention of the adage about saying something nice to mean I wanted to curb disagreement. That is not the case. I recognize there are at least two sides to everything in Plainfield. I would just like to see less vitriol, hyperbole and name-calling in expressing one's point of view.

  1. Much like people coming out against critics of the school board, the PMUA has managed an excellent campaign of smoke and mirrors. When you mention cutting costs both the PMUA and the school board love to beat that drum in front of the public... however, the only 2 things both do well is going after essential or important items...never bloated management fat begging to be trimmed.
When the state began adjusting the school districts free money, I mean funding,a few years back, the first thing the school board did was announce teachers and janitors being laid off.
When the PMUA was running short on cash after the big quit/retire, I mean "fired" wink-wink deal .. who did they nail ? The front line workers actually doing work.
Cleaning house on both should involve excessive "management" ( manage to show up for the paycheck ) and not the people actually providing services.
    But... dreams are nice.

  2. It's okay to have an opinion. It is not okay to claim that your opinion is fact or that it has more value than those that are licensed, certified, and have years of experience in a particular field. If one claims their data has more value, then it is a reasonable request to have that person state their certifications, licenses and / or educational backround.

    1. Anonymous, that's assuming your licensed certified brainiacs even bother to offer an opinion or facts. Most of the time they sit like mutes, offering not a word and certainly no data to support themselves, figuring fools like you are swayed by a shiny diploma and don't require any substance to spout off.

    2. It is easy to assume by your comments what your educational or lack there of that you have.People get higher educational and certifications and license for a reason and they don't have to spoUT off at the mouth like you just did. Just because you rant like you do that doesn't make you smart or what you say correct. Sometimes Silence is Golden

    3. That's your opinion but it not necessarily correct. Where are your fact?

  3. Quite frankly, I would like to see the credentials and accomplishments of the PMUA. They may have been in the business for years, but it doesn't mean they are any good at what they do.

Dan Williamson was a lawyer, Eric Watson was a city worker - credentials count only if you can support them by actions, vision, and leadership. I see none of those qualities at PMUA.

    1. Are you saying they do a poor job at keeping the City clean? I am not a big PMUA fan but they do an excellent job at keeping the City clean. Much better than when we had private haulers. I thought all agreed on that. I thought the major problem was the cost of the service.

    2. They are not doing a poor job, but they are not at the good level. Downtown still has garbage on the streets as does some of the surrounding areas. They are supposed to empty trash at some of the parks, which they don't do. That's part of the cost and the shared services.

And a question, if anyone knows the answer. Is it the city or PMUA who is supposed to remove illegal dumping on the streets?

    3. There are individuals who go through trash and leave it around despite PMUA pickups. Park & Seventh has several and I have seen the same thing downtown. Some are looking for recyclables and some are just disturbed, like the woman who eats leftover food scraps from trash containers. She constantly tears up our building trash as well. It appears to be a compulsion, not a need.
