PNC Brightens Downtown

Thanks to PNC Bank for beautifying its corner at Park & Second!

This summer's brutal heat did in a couple of previous plantings, but now the historic bank's entrance is graced with evergreens and cascading petunias. Plaintalker for one appreciates the bank's ongoing efforts to make this important gateway to the city attractive to the many thousands of people who travel past it each day on the city's main north-south corridor.

  1. It does look nice..when they finish the buildings in that area I hope they repave that section of minefield, I mean Park Avenue.

  2. As a pedestrian I am also waiting for the city to do Phase II of the downtown streetscape, from Second to Fifth on Park Avenue. The sidewalks there are so bad as to be a liability to the city, especially across the street from the bank.

  3. I hope they do something nice there. The Park/Madison buildings are ugly and don't fit into the flavor of Plainfield and we need to keep to Plainfield's classic 1800s look and not modern ugly as was allowed at Park Madison. We do need a face lift and I hope the current administration gets its act together and we get a consistent quality look for the city.

  4. The current administration get its act together for a quality look? Have you seen the dump of a building they call city hall? The WW2 Honor Roll is blocked by a tacky desk - the floor looks like a slum, the whole inside of the building (except for AJ's office thank goodness - although I have heard that other offices have perked up) and the hall with the horrible pictures bragging about the mayor (her own personal photo album) all point to the fact that there is a major difference in taste - those who have it and those who do not. You can guess my opinion of the where this administration stands.

  5. I am amazed that the administration sees nothing wrong with defiling the memory of those who served our country by blocking the memorial plaque with that stupid desk. I have requested the desk to be removed, as well as all the other debris clogging up city hall. Visitors to our city hall must be disgusted. I wish residents would write to the administration to get the photos, Lucite stands, ads for bail bonds, tables, boxes, and other junk out so that we can have a respectable city hall.
