2010: Beginning of the End?

I was looking something up and came across a review of 2010, the first year of Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs' second term. If you are new to Plainfield or just wondering about local politics, this post may provide some background on why the mayor did not prevail in her bid for a third term.

  1. Do not fool yourself entirely Bernice... had she been given the magic letter "D" the chances of Adrian winning would not have been entirely on his side.
As "someone sezzzzzzz" in a nutshell, "although she was a hot mess for each and every year, accomplished nothing, was a complete breakdown of any fiscal responsibility and unable to accomplish the smallest of steps forward, I voted for her everytime." ----- The disease of Plainfield: APATHY.

  2. 2010 was a watershed year. The mayor proved she was too inept to juggle the institutional corruption in the city government; Corruption that predates her administration and has cost the residents and taxpayers of the city millions. Corruption that prompted someone with close ties to the mayor to thank me for trying to connect the dots and explain that "It's deep, deep, deep". Corruption that saw promotions instead of prosecutions. Corruption so overwhelming that an ineffective City Council would rather waste $100,000 on $5-15,000 of unauthorized spending than bother with illegal and unapproved spending totaling much much more on a monthly basis.

The mayor tripped up too many times focusing on pettiness, and many in the community began zeroing in on a multitude of discrepancies and sins. Eventually even the party leaders reacted. It was too hot in the kitchen, so change the kitchen. Although administrations come and go, the string-pullers thus far remain the same, and they got worried. This mayor gave them no cover.

  3. After 2010, a chronically bad situation just kept getting worse. One recent gem in the mayor's administration, however, is Eric Jackson who in his time here has done wonders. I hope he stays!

  5. Every bully gets its day, especially when the continue to bully the Queen City Baseball League's Children and taxpaying parents; But this to her makes her feel like a big person. Whenever a person feels the need to try and cripple a children's organization, something is defiantly wrong! That's why she can't do her job that some folks voted for her to do!

  6. I hope the Council will maintain close supervision over administrative actions during the balance of Sharon's term!
