Book Sale Opens Friday

While the Plainfield Public Library waits to see whether its budget will be restored in the 2011 fiscal year that began July 1, you can help out by going to the big book sale that starts Friday with a $5 preview from 10 a.m. until noon. After that, entrance is free and there are thousands of books to choose from.

  2. It is nice when we can get government monies to run our institutions, yet even nicer to see the American Spirit at work . . . if they don't help us, we will do something to help ourselves! The free public library system was developed in this country by patriots such as Jefferson, Franklin, Tilden and even industrialist Andrew Carnegie who put $60 million dollars into the endeavor (probaly a little bit more in todays money), and by the average citizens of all our communities!
