Dr. Yood has already been to the Plainfield Public Library and back to look at the packet and post comments while I am still looking for coffee after getting up late. One of his comments is regarding the proposed payment of the mayor's legal bills for representation in the council investigation of the WBLS matter.
I will be going to the library myself today (I hope), but meanwhile it might be of interest to read this link and the links within the post that are highlighted in gold.
As the late Mayor Rick Taylor often said, you only have to count to four on the council. Four votes and the mayoral bill will be paid.
If you want to comment on it before the council votes Tuesday, the reference is R-032-13.

If we just did away with this Mayor there would be no more legal bills.
ReplyDeleteYou, the people of Plainfield, paid the $85,000 for the legal bills of the retired administrators of the PMUA with regard to their shallow claims. . In addition, you paid the attorney who represented the PMUA in the suite up to the time of unwarranted capitulation. A total sum exceeding $100,000. So, the Mayor's attorney's fee is small potatoes by comparison. Lady Justice is alive and out there somewhere, but an expensive date. Also, she has no respect and instantly abandons those who vacillate. For those who are not totally committed to her she won't even answer the phone. It is a fait accompli that the people will pay the Mayor's bill and
ReplyDeletethe only solace is that it wasn't more.

We can do away with this mayor in June. I hope everybody votes and lets' this loser know she's no longer wanted. She has run this city into the ground and smiling all the way. What a loser. We also need to vote her supporters out of office and not just vote the party line. You can see what the party line has done to Plainfield over the past 7 years. Think before you vote.
ReplyDeleteOut of their own pockets, I hope. I don't know how much longer we can live in Plainfield if our elected officials view taxpayers as deep pockets to fund their personal grievances.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the definition of DISGRACE? To pay the mayor's ill conceived legal fees, off of the taxpayers backs! Whose interests do the Council represent? Yes, J.V.P. is so right, out of their OWN pockets, yes.
ReplyDeleteDear Joan...if you are able to sell your house please publish the name of your realtor so I can use them. I am at my wits end with the nonsense that goes on here. If only the Politicians who profess to care about this city would get off their butts and knock on doors and inform the residence of whats going on we might have a chance of getting more people to vote in the Primary. You can't wait until a few weeks before to start knocking on doors, by then the people don't want to be bothered...because this is what always happens and they see you all with a jaundiced eye. Get ahead of the "pack", be creative and innovative. Start Now!!! That is..if you really care.
ReplyDeleteI hope that all of you who are so angry about this issue will come to this evening's Council meeting and voice your opinions loud and clear!
ReplyDeleteWe have the power to stop this insanity!
Plainfield is an extremely unfortunate city to live in. It is unfortunate that a city whose population include so many talented people and a sizable middle class that comprises close to four thousand households continues to operate as a city with a less educated and lower socio economic conditions. We need to acknowledge the fact that those who should be participating in the affairs of this city have decided not to do so. We have the city we should have. The leadership we should have because through our lack of participation we are exercising a political position. It is an act of being political by choosing not be engaged in the politics of the city in which one resides. We do not want a different and better Plainfield. If we did, the middle class households and upper middle class households of this city would be dictating the politics of this city. Our priorities would be different if we were engaged. We have opted not to be engaged. So until we choose to be engage we will have the city we have now. A city that is the laughingstock of New Jersey. A disgrace. Why because this city is capable of so much more but through our collective laziness we are allowing it to perish.
ReplyDeleteDo not blame the mayor for what we are. And do not blame and disparage those who vote for her because they are simply exercising their right to vote and making a choice for what they consider to be in their best interest while the rest of us so called smarter people are choosing to participated via not being involved in the process. We are all responsible for electing the city council we have and the mayor we have. We have elected through the participation choice we chose. We either participated through voting for them or by not voting at all.
At 4:18pm - Ditto to the power of 10.
ReplyDeleteComplain in person at a Council Meeting.
To: Keeping it Real, I concur with you on speaking out, but please believe that every citizen in Plainfield can go to the council meetings and speak out and still they will vote the way they please. It will not change, I go to meetings and watch the Mayor's hencemen/women on the council do her bidding regardless of what the citizens say, if you don't believe, just watch their faces and body language when citizens are speaking, you will see they don't care and if you say too much, the pastor, council (G Fabulous) president and big shot Bill will tell you off and shut you down. So Plainfielders please go to the meetings and try to stop some of the craziness and let me know how successful you were. Our best bet as citizens of Plainfield is to go to the polls and vote our SRB(the F..ing Mayor), Cound president River, Bill Reid, Vera Greaves and the (don't mix church & state) pastor out as soon as possible. Let take our City back, sweep up, bag and throw out the trash.
