Alonso Documents Downtown Fire

Photographer David Alonso captured the following images from a downtown fire Sunday night that destroyed the US 99-cent store. (Click images to enlarge.)
The alarm came in at 8:15 p.m. on June 28, Deputy Chief Michael McCue of the Plainfield Fire Division said.
Firefighters receive medical attention at the scene. One firefighter suffered arm injuries, McCue said.
The store was a total loss. Neighboring businesses had smoke damage. Union County investigators determined the fire was not suspicious.
The Plainfield Fire Division received mutual aid from North Plainfield, South Plainfield and Scotch Plains. Union County rendered mutual aid both at the scene and for coverage at headquarters for three hours, McCue said.
Signage at the back of the building lists products sold at the store.
