Lillian Jamar, Conscience of Her Community

Lillian Jamar

Lillian Jamar spoke her mind and scolded many an official for not listening to the people. A mighty voice was stilled with her passing on Friday. She was a Democratic Party Committeewoman for many years, representing Ward 1, District 8. I'm told services will be Wednesday, with details to follow.

  1. This is the passing of a true fighter for her community. Ms Lillian Jamar was courageous and sincere about the truth as see perceived it. She taught me a lot about courage and conviction of belief . Forever remembered in our heart's and minds. Ms Lillian Jamar. Norman X Johnson

  2. Mrs. Jamar was a wonderful and proud lady. One time, when I was visiting her, we sat for a while in her living room while she showed me dozens and dozens of photos of her children and grandchildren, speaking of their accomplishments with great pride. She is truly a hero of Plainfield.

  3. Mrs. Jamar was an active, graceful and elegant woman. She was an inspiration to me. When you think age is a factor or an excuse for anything, think of Mrs. Jamar. Age was just was just a number to her, nothing to get in the way of living life to its fullest.

  5. I will remember Mrs. Jamar's astute advise and steadfast support when I ran for City Council. When I asked her for advise she told me "young man do what is right not what is popular and you will always hold your head high". A tireless champion may she rest in peace.

  7. I've know Mrs. Jamar since I was a little girl playing in the neighborhood. As I grew to adulthood I developed the utmost respect for her as I watched her uses her strong voice and her passion for her community and city politics. I didn't see her often but when I did she always had a warm hug for me. I will miss her being in the world but she certainly left her mark. Her family can be very proud as she was proud of them. Much love for her and the family
