Police Memorial to be Unveiled

Weeks of work have produced this memorial to four fallen police officers, John Gleason, Robert Perry, Frank Buczek and Abigail Powlett. It will be unveiled at noon on Saturday. It is located in front of Police Headquarters, East Fourth Street and Watchung Avenue

A worker was installing a plaque at the base of the flagpole Thursday.
The names of those who died in the line of duty are inscribed on the large memorial in the shape of a police shield. Funds were raised by Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 19.

  1. You mean to tell me that the Police union and not the city paid for the memorial. This is totally unacceptable and a embarassment to the city. These fine Officers gave their lives to keep us safe and our city administrators did nothing Sad so Sad

  2. Officer Gleason was a really decent guy, when I met him I was a teenager and my cousin was on the force.

  3. Make sure the plaque is affixed in a way that it can not be stolen like the historic ones in the parks.
