Chief of Staff Title Sought

The agenda for Tuesday's double-header meeting didn't arrive until after midnight. One thing that caught my eye was a proposed ordinance to establish the title of "Chief of Staff" in Plainfield. There is another proposed ordinance to establish a salary band for that title. A third ordinance would amend the salary band for the title of chief financial officer, which currently has a maximum of $125,000. Looks like it might be going up?

If the council packet is available today (Saturday) at the Plainfield Public Library, more details will be posted here. If not, we shall find out together at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday what it's all about.

  1. Bingo !! Nothing about Crime, Taxes, Education or Dead Wood but ... lets create a new po$ition [generic term is switching the one-way streets, a lot of commotion, expenses and confusion but no real net result - still end up where you started to drive to, which in the City's case is downhill] Next will be moving desks around, changing locks and re-painting the parking signs in the City Hall parking lot ... mark my words.

Enough of the complaining. You've made your point that your dissatisfied with Plainfield government. So here's my suggestions . . . join a political party, anyone, and become an activist and do something (action); run for an elective office as an independent (if you don't like either party); if none of the above suits you, remain quiet. If all of that doesn't interest you, then find a city that is to your liking and resident there. But by all means I want you to be happy and stress free, wherever that is.

  3. Mr. El-Amin, last I checked we all had the right to our opinions. You sound like those who suggest people move from America if we don't like certain policies. It does seem as if half of Plainfield, works and goes home to their family, 1/3 drank the Kool Aid and continue to support the flip flopping antics of the City Council and Jerry Green and the other 17%, give or take does not give a damn. But please don't suggest that a person leave, Plainfield needs everyone, especially those who have been around long enough to see the musical chairs..or are you getting ready to have another seat?

    1. I agree with Mr. El-Amin. Either do something constructive, or be quiet. And, if you are so dissatisfied, and refuse to do anything about it, you are wasting most people's time (except other complainers - and you can all sit in a room and leave the doers alone).

And as far as those who have been around long enough to see the musical chairs, the music must still be playing.

  4. Chief of Staff? Personal Secretary? Layer upon layer of bureaucracy. Hire a professional City Administrator, experienced Financial Officer, and one intelligent heads up secretary for each of them and the Mayor and you have all the staff that Painfield historically had and currently needs to have.
