Campbell Jr. Seeks Assembly Seat

All those who have been speculating where John Campbell Jr. will land on the political charts can now cross him off the potential mayoral list - he is mounting an Assembly campaign, according to PolitickerNJ. Click here to read the article.

The article states he is targeting Democrat Linda Stender, but actually there are two Assembly representatives in District 22, the other incumbent being Jerry Green. The top two winners get the seats, so even if he campaigns against one, he could displace the other if he gets enough votes.

These Republican forays against entrenched Democrats tend to be sacrificial rather than fair fights, but one never knows.

If this is old news, I apologize. I was without a computer for most of Tuesday and probably missed a lot.

  1. Why would he target Linda Stender, when she gets more votes than Jerry? Wouldn't it make more sense to target Jerry? After all, Bo Vastine, a white man from Texas, who no one know, came within 1,000 votes. Imagine a young man who is African American and has a brain?

Hopefully, this will be Jerry's swan song.

    1. Vastine and Marks both lost by over 2000 votes in 2009 with Christie at the top of the ticket and an unpopular Corzine.

And in 2011 Jerry won by over 4000 over Van Pelt and First

    2. I don't think people knew Christie at the time of Vastine/Marks and Van Pelt/First had no presence in Plainfield losing by over 3,000 votes there alone.

We need to condone youth involvement especially in a city like Plainfield. If he loses so what we need our young people/adults involved. Then again maybe he has a shot. It's time for a change

  2. For real? Who is this person? Any real world experience? Why don't we ever get real competent and experienced people? Has he changed party affiliation to a Democrat? Or is he running as a Republican? There are plenty of Republicans with more experience for this seat. What an ambitious joke.

  3. So now we will have the fish/chicken frying
Cambells running the City and the School Board, What a joke? I guess that's one sure way to get Lesniak's law firm's fat finger in the SB's money pie and maybe even the City's.

  4. What a political joke.....at 23 what experience can this dude have...cause that's what he is, a cool dude you'd want to hang with, not a cool dude you want making life changing decisions that will affect tens of thousands of people. Too young and too much of a political stunt.

    1. although no great fan of any of the pseudo or perceived power brokers in this city...look at all the good the "experienced" people who've been elected have bestowed upon us... yeah...not much. I'm by no means suggesting I support anything about him, but in Plainfield, lack of experience usually means they haven't yet had an opportunity to serve themselves yet at the public trough..nothing more.
