Mystery Plant

This plant showed up last year in one of our garden plots. It produced no flowers that might have helped identify it. After staying green for most of the winter, it is flourishing again. While we await some flowers, we welcome any clues as to what it might be. Click on the image to enlarge.

  1. My guesses would be: something from the carrot family; some kind of dicentra; or Astilbe, with this last one being a strong candidate.

Will there be a "prize" for the winning guess?

    1. Thanks, Dicentra looks close. The leaves are sort of leathery and shiny. Yes, there will be a prize.

  2. Bernice, it looks like a young Angelica plant. If so, it could grow pretty tall very fast and produce white flowers at its top. Scott Belin
