Seven Weeks To Primary

Sharon vs. Adrian: The Rematch will take place on June 4. Meanwhile, expect to see and hear a lot of campaign stuff, not all of it true or nice. The best thing a voter can do is to look at each candidate's record and decide which might be more capable of being mayor for the next four years.

The Democratic primary winner will still face a challenge from Republican Sandy Spector and any independents who file on June 4. But in this city where Democrats outnumber Republicans 12 to 1, folk wisdom says winning a Democratic primary usually means taking the seat in November.

Past campaigns have been marred by mean, anonymous tactics. One always hopes supporters and detractors of candidates will focus on issues of governance and not stoop to spite or slander. We'll soon find out what backers of these two want to tell us, and more importantly what the candidates have to say for themselves.

  1. Let's see how dirty Sharon gets now that she doesn't have the backing of the Democratic Party. Not long ago she and her supporters were putting out lies and dirt to win City Council seats, so hold on for the mayoral run.

  2. well.. Adrian doesn't have to worry about that this time.. Jerry and Co. have put him into the Mayor's seat.. errh..uhh..sorry I mean, gave him the go to RUN on the Democratic ticket..so "anonymous" leaks etc from the Union County Machine won't be aimed at him.
Now Sharon on the other hand..do they dare ?? I'm sure she's got a bag of mud waiting for the Union County Democrats to dare lobby something her way.

  5. The pink flyer that was posted around the Dem’s headquarters last Saturday is just the beginning of the mudslinging and tastelessness. Jerry Green, says he wants a clean race because I’m sure Sharon knows more about him than he would like anyone to know; so of course he wants a clean race. If Planfielders are really looking for change, then they need to vote like it. We need to get out of the habit of voting down the democratic line like a robot, don’t be afraid to vote Republican or Independent. After all Plainfield voters have historically voted democrat and look where we are today. High taxes, high crime, streets that damage your car anytime you drive down them, failing school system, high foreclosure rate and the cons can go on and on. Before casting a vote, get involved, go to the debates, read the candidates body language, do research on each candidate, talk to the candidates, Google them, and don’t be afraid to vote outside the democrat party line, obviously voting democrat hasn’t helped Plainfield.
To me Green, Mapp and Robinson-Briggs are equal, I suspect either one of them will bring more of the same.

  6. I hope that the comment "NEVER want to be like Westfield again" is a sarcastic joke? If it isn't then you deserve to stay in a city that will never improve. Who wouldn't want to have a vibrant downtown and safe neighborhoods? Too white upper middle class for you?
