Williamson Gets 3 Percent Raise

Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority commissioners approved a 3 percent raise for Executive Director Dan Williamson at the authority's Nov. 12 meeting.

The $4,638 raise is retroactive to July.. Williamson left his longtime position as corporation counsel for the city in July 2012 to head the authority, at a $29,613 increase over his compensation as legal counsel to the mayor and governing body.

For full details on his contract with the PMUA when he made the change, see Plaintalker's previous post.

  1. I love these guys: there's no expense too high that can't be increased.

  2. A pittance compared to how much he's let Toliver, Brokaw & Mitchell steal in illegal compensation during his directorship, all while PMUA employees have been forced to take furloughs. A self-congratulatory crew if there ever was one. I hope their having fun in Atlantic City.

  3. Not too long ago the people in the trenches were placed on short work weeks. Apparently the economic crisis is history. Next month we will enjoy the charade of several play for pay consultants endorsing a ludicrous sum for Shared Services Fee and an equally inappropriate sum ( too low ) for household collection. I predict that this team will once again refuse to provide any meaningful data which justifies the apportionment of these fees.

If the arithmetic is correct then Mr. Williamson has had an increase in salary of $34,251 since taking his office in the PMUA contrasted to his previous remuneration as City Attorney. It should be noted that the the direct compensation, his salary, is not the entire picture. With each increase the Employer side contributions increase; by say another 10 to15%. A total cost to the public approaching $40,000. These increases inure to his benefit when his pension is computed.

It suggests that young people should set their sights on refuse collection rather than law. Look at how successful Anthony Soprano was.

But that is not the total irony. We have Adrian Mapp with his plurality attempting to get off to a sterling start. The modest salary which was, and will continue to be offered, for a Professional Financial Officer did not attract any candidates. It seems there was a conspicuous message there. Sooo, when Mayor elect Mapp attempted to raise the salary for the City's Chief Financial Officer to an amount which is in the order of the Head of the Refuse Operation he was shot down. Another endorsement for a career in trash as contrasted to Finance.

Adrian, where ignorance is bliss. tis folly to be wise.
