A City Council agenda-fixing session Monday kicks off a series of public meetings that will challenge even the most avid citizens and bloggers.
Monday's meeting is 7:30 p.m. in Municipal Court. I'm sure bloggers will alert the public to key issues that turn up in the packet, although anyone can go to the Plainfield Public Library to review the packet if it is available. The agenda does not include background documents that may add important context to resolutions and ordinances, which is why bloggers try to get the details in order to understand what the council will be voting on. (The regular meeting will be 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in Municipal Court. See all the 2014 meeting dates here.)
The Plainfield Municipal Utility Authority moved its scheduled Jan. 7 meeting to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at PMUA headquarters, 127 Roosevelt Ave. Agendas have not been posted before the last few meetings, but you can look for them at the PMUA web site.
The authority will be reorganizing in February and it is around this time that rate changes and such are announced.
On Wednesday, the Zoning Board of Adjustment meets at 7 p.m. in City Hall Library to reorganize. Here is a link to information about ZBOA members and meetings. To get to this link from the home page, go to departments, select Public Works & Urban Development, then divisions, then Planning, then Zoning Board of Adjustment. The agenda may or may not be posted.
Following the links above, you can look up the Planning Board, which will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday in City Hall Library to reorganize.
The land use boards may turn out to be very active this year, with a new emphasis promised on economic development. Plaintalker will attempt to provide information in advance of meetings and also to cover as many meetings as possible. But if you can attend and witness for yourself what developers are proposing, all the better.
