Oy Vey Ist Mir!

Woe is me! I have four dubious comments in queue. What to do? I let them sit for a while and they don't look any better.

Maybe I will let them rip tomorrow or maybe I will delete them all.

  1. With a schmear indeed!
(oh, wait! is that a slur against the jews? could someone be so ignorant as to not recognize it as a joke? is it a hidden offer of a bribe? is it threat to wipe someone out?)
Or is it just a freakin word like any other that people hang their own complex system of meanings onto as they do every other word. Words like: hyper-sensitive, self-obsessed, self-important, self-aggrandizing and self-justifying.

  2. This current climate of behavior ranging from incivility to attempted assassination of a legislator and, in what the military calls collateral damage, loss of life is enough to make even a local public figure wonder aloud about a comment such as "if she survives." Over the past two decades there have been instances of intimidation in local politics, ask an oldtimer.
Curiously, JG not too long ago claimed Cory Storch was afraid of Rebecca. Why invoke fear as an element of the political process unless it is an accepted part of one's toolkit? I seriously doubt it is part of Rebecca's.

  3. Sorry, press lady, but incivility by many does not belong in the same equation as attempted assassination by one let alone untold civilian deaths caused by the military, and there's definitely no tie-in to a vague prediction by a local political blogger. Our own Jerry is famous among the bloggeratti for his imprecise use of language. So why are parsing "IF she survives" as a physical threat? Isn't "political survival" a commonly used term? Why couldn't it mean that? Why wouldn't it mean that? Or something else entirely? Nothing wrong with not liking Jerry but keep in mind that his English just isn't that good and you need to give him wide latitude before taking his ramblings as serious physical threats.

  4. @11:49. Common sense would dictate that the language used by JG is just not acceptable. It has nothing to do with whether JG is adept at using the English language properly. If that's your justification for his behavior, how in the world can he write legislation?

  5. To 12:28pm - FYI Jerry does not write the legislation. He has someone else write it for him. I am not sure if this is exclusive to Jerry, or if it is common among all the Assembly, Senate members. But Jerry does not write it.

  6. The Legislature has staff members who draft legislation. Legislators do not write their own.
