Happy holidays to all celebrating the Jewish festival of Passover and the Christian feast day, Easter, this weekend.
Even if your family is non-religious, it is a good time to celebrate the season with a walk in your favorite park or just around your neighborhood to admire the flowering trees and gardens.
The cycle of seasons is not always so evident to us today as it was in the days when people were more closely tied to the natural world. Coming out of a time of want or hardship, people naturally gathered to celebrate their survival.
Whatever your religious tradition or understanding of the season, Plaintalker extends best wishes for a festive weekend!

I've been a Christian all my life and have never heard it referred to as a "feast" day. Where did you get that from? This is a Holy time. A time to celebrate the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ and His overcoming death through His ascention in heaven. It is a celebration of the forgiveness and hope that the resurrection of Jesus Christ represents to Christians.
ReplyDeleteIt is my understanding that in the liturgical year, Easter is a feast day celebrating the Resurrection of Christ.
ReplyDelete"Easter is the feast of feasts, the unalloyed joy and gladness of all Christians." - from www.catholicculture.org
also see http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/holydays/easter.shtml
that is catholic teaching not a Christian belief -totally different meaning.
ReplyDeleteActually it is a celebration of the spring solstis and of Ishtar, aka Ostara aka... a goddess of fertility. Which is why it is celebrated with eggs and bunnies - objects representing fertility.
ReplyDeleteTo 11:25am - Do you believe Catholics are not Christians?
ReplyDeleteNo 7:48 but I know All Christians are not Catholic;therefore those things prescribe to Catholics as part of their religious expression does not define that of All Christians.
