City Clerk AJ Jalloh confirmed that no Republicans filed for the the two City Council seats by Monday's deadline, while nj.com reported two Republicans filed for District 22 Assembly seats.
The only filers Monday for the June primary were Democrats. The Regular Democratic Organization of Union County filers were Steve G. Hockaday for the First & Fourth Wards at-large City Council seat and Charles Eke for the Second Ward. The Union County Progressive Democratic Organization is backing incumbent Cory Storch for the Second Ward and Barry Goode for the First & Fourth Wards at-large.
The only other chance to file will come up on June 2, Primary Day. Independent candidates have a 4 p.m. deadline to file at the Union County Clerk's office in Elizabeth on June 2 to be on the November ballot.
The City Council seats are for four-year terms starting on Jan. 1, 2016.

So bernice there's no one challenging jerry the dictator in a primary in june
ReplyDeleteBecause if thats the case we have to suffer through another 2 years of Jerry because this district is heavily democratic
Unless you vote for Bo Vastine. At least there will be one voice representing Plainfield.
ReplyDeleteid rather write in a snarky comment then allow this state to turn into backwards red state like indiana or arkansas with a pissed off failed presidential candidate in chris christie still running this place with a republican assembly
DeleteAnd we all know Jerry Green is the lynchpin to guaranteeing an open, honest and responsive government with the needs and rights of the people a first priority... ..cause don't he run this mu#hf$)ker
DeleteWhat am I, chopped liver? I've lived in Plainfield for 29 years and have been one of the most active citizens around for all that time.
DeleteYou're a republican in a state with a republican governor who's an ideologue no sir I will not give Christie a chance to further decimate this state.
DeleteYou are probably fully qualified to be an assemblyman but your party in the state Senate and assembly have never stood up to Christie so why would I expect you to do differently when you would be a freshman assemblyman caucusing with the republicans.
No offense but id rather just skip voting for anyone in the assembly race this year.
In a year that will have a record low turnout in this district and statewide a solid democrat skipping voting for jerry and jim Kennedy is the best you're going to get
Please do;skip votimg
DeleteTo 12:25pm - While I do not quarrel with some of your opinions of Christie, I would like to point out some facts about Republicans and Democrats in this state.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Republicans were in power, NJ was the 4th most business friendly state in which to do business - it is now either 49 or 50. Our property taxes were about average with the rest of the country, and now we have the highest property taxes in the country.
The Democrats are asking taxpayers to anti up for money to pay for our crumbling infrastructure. I will remind you that our sales tax went up (requested by the Democrats) from 6% to 7% with that one percent difference to go directly to road and infrastructure. The Democrats raided the Transportation fund, and spent it elsewhere. We are now asked to give them more money to go for infrastructure - AGAIN.
Lastly, the Democrats could have put the extended millionaires tax on Corzine's desk before he left office. The Democrats chose not to, and put it on Christie's desk, who ran on the pledge that he would not raise taxes. Again, the Democrats let the tax lapse.
So before you start thinking that the Republicans are the devil, look at what the Democrats have done to this state. I assure you, it is not a pretty picture. I have since become an unaffiliated voter.
