Bibi Back Soon?

In a little ray of sunshine from Monday's City Council meeting, Acting City Administrator Dan Williamson suggested that City Administrator Bibi Taylor might be back on the job within a week or two.

Taylor has been out on maternity leave since the end of last year. She was due to deliver her third child when in a surprise move Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs fired her. The City Council overturned the mayor's action. See Plaintalker post here.

Plans to hire an interim city administrator or to allow Taylor to work from home apparently fizzled out. Williamson, the city's corporation counsel, was named acting city administrator at the Jan. 3 annual reorganization. Under city rules, acting appointments may be made only for 90 days, so Williamson's tenure would have been up at the end of March anyway.

Hopefully, Taylor will be able to step back in and perform in the manner for which she has drawn widespread praise since joining the city cabinet in July 2009.

  1. We will all be so much better off when Bibi gets back! I hope there are no more shenanigans from the mayor.

  2. There will still be shenanigans from the Mayor. She may even fire Bibi again. After all, Bibi's firing was in 2010. We all know Bibi knows the "shady stuff" that goes on down there in city hall. That is what led to her firing in the first place. Ms. Mayor... I know you and your cronies read the blogs. The AG will soon be after you and your cronies. Quit now like the others and you might stand a chance of limited jail time.

  3. Mark my words Bibi will undoubtedly sue this City, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day. Wish she would just stay home or go work for East Orange! Oh yea, they don't want her either! We are the only fools who are bamboozled by her. Because the Mayor is SOOO horrible Bibi looks like a God! Momma always says, "everything that glitters AINT gold!

  4. If she's wrongfully fired she ought to sue--wouldn't you? She is smart and capable and did a good job. Plainfield needs more like her!

  5. To 7:41 PM - How do you know East Orange doesn't want her? And, considering how she is treated by the mayor, I don't blame her for suing the city. It will be one of the only part of my taxes I won't mind paying.
