Bibi Taylor will succeed retiring Union County Finance Director Lawrence Caroselli.
See details here.
Taylor came to Plainfield city government as director of the Department of Administration, Finance, Health & Social Services in July 2009 and was named city administrator in January 2010. She retained the department head position in acting capacity in addition to being in charge of day-to-day operations of the city. Although acting titles are not supposed to exceed 90 days, it was not until November 2010 that Al Restaino was named director of AFH&SS. See Plaintalker's post here.
What happens next in terms of filling the city administrator post is anyone's guess. Perhaps former city finance director Ron West, who was briefly considered to fill in for Taylor during her maternity leave, will accept the post. West knows the city well and was always ready with the facts and figures when serving as finance director in the administration of Mayor Albert T. McWilliams, the late father of Council President Annie McWilliams. West and CFO Ron Zilinski might make a very good team to take on the predicted heavy challenges of the FY 2012 budget.
Good luck to Bibi at the county. She garnered many fans in Plainfield during her tenure here.

maybe Bibi can ruffle some feathers in the Union County government...apparently she enjoys spreading the Sunshine, which Union County government is known to hate.
ReplyDeletePlainfield..worse for wear unfortunately. But Sharon got her wish.
Come on Bernice, do you really think the Mayor is going to place a New Dem in charge of the day to day operations of the City. Nah!
ReplyDeleteI hope the City Council has to approved Sharon's choice for this position. No one trusts Sharon any more to be responsible in important matters. She mishandles small matters. Perhaps she should go back to running bake sales and thelike, she shure can't handle this city and is the worst mayor we've had in the 30+ years I've lived here. Too bad for us.
ReplyDelete“I am thankful for this opportunity and grateful to the County Manager, Director Caroselli and the Freeholders for their support,” Taylor said.
ReplyDeleteTranslation: "I am thankful for getting out of the rat-hole called Plainfield."
So Taylor's greatest accomplishment is following a correction plan already recommended by the city auditors. That was her greatest accomplishment as City Administrator and Director of Finance & Administration as the press release says. I am no fan of the Mayor, but lets not overstate Taylor's contributions to Plainfield making over 125K per yr
ReplyDeleteI am with 1:03.
ReplyDeleteWhat did she actually do, except pi** off her boss and wink at the Council.
Damon and the New Democrates are in woe about Bibi's departure. They are actually the greatest cause of her leaving.
Elizabeth Bowen, an Anglo-Irish novelist once said: "Pity the selfishness of lovers: it is brief, a forlorn hope; it is impossible"
Anon 3/18/2011 7:48PM:
ReplyDeleteBibi's reason for leaving, is that she will no-longer have to deal with the psychotic Red Queen, Mayor Sharon Robinson –Briggs.
As the Irish poet, William Butler Yeats once said:
‘Things fall apart; the centre cannot old;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned…
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds…
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?’
Well, if you had to deal with that, you’d bail to.
Anybody who thinks they can get a straight answer from Ron West to a straightforward question is sadly mistaken. If we don't learn from the past we will be condemned to repeat it, and it will be our own fault.
ReplyDeleteTo 1:03 and 7:48 - you obviously have no facts to back up your statement. If you did, you would know that Bibi Taylor:
ReplyDelete1 - Answered all questions when asked of her about the budget and the management of the city
2- Put together a city budget that made sense and cleaned up the city budget
3 - Ran the city doing 3 jobs for $118,000 per year, and would have worked during maternity leave with no extra pay, but the mayor said no
4 - Had facts and figures when asked questions and justified all answers
Perhaps you should both start going to council meetings, and become involved with the city before you make statements that have no merit other than "what I think and feel".
