What's Missing?

I was admiring some of the stonework on the front of City Hall last week when I noticed something was missing.

The exterior had undergone a restoration last year that took several months. The facade was cleaned and looks much nicer.

But what happened here? The numbers "515" that locate City Hall on Watchung Avenue are missing. Obviously they were removed for the cleaning and never put back.

Time to check around and see what became of them.

There is a lot of interesting imagery around the front of City Hall. Most people enter from the rear parking lot, but if you get a chance, check out the detail on the front of the building.

  1. Now that the outside of City Hall is done, the inside of City Hall is in serious need of an extreme make-over. The floors look horrid! How can we take pride of our City when the inside of City Hall looks like CRAP! or as Billy Reid says "Dirty Butt City"

  2. Thank you 6:58

I thought I was the only one that perceived City Hall to be embarassing!

Unfortunately, it's somewhat representative of what Plainfield once was and what it is now - -dirty, messy and lacking in maintenance.

It's a beautiful and stately building that needs some attention.

A fresh coat of paint goes a long way folks.

  3. The first thing that has to happen is for the mayor to realize the walls of city hall are not her personal photo album.

The interior needs at least a paint job. If the city was organized, do you think there would be a volume of citizens who would volunteer to come paint it on a Saturday? If the city could organize, my answer is yes.

We need to get the fake tree out of the corner when you come into the building. You also need to remove the ladder that is next to it. The plastic flowers have to go. Replace them with Plainfield artifacts. The Drake House has a ton of pictures that could adorn our city building. Would be nice if we can get someone who can do something in City Hall to get this going.

I would say AJ, except he is already doing a wonderful job, and I would not want him to stop making the much needed changes he will be implementing. Do we have another AJ in City Hall?
