A Chilling Loss

The cold-blooded daylight murder of a city taxi driver fills us with horror and a sense of helplessness to avert such crimes. A family is fatherless and for what reason? The notion of getting a few dollars at the cost of his life?

Let us hope that the Union County Homicide Squad will be able to find the perpetrator quickly and take that individual off the streets.

Our thoughts are with the friends, family and co-workers of Isidro Leonardo.

  1. I really get the feeling that unless something is done quickly we will fall into chaos and do not have the leadership needed to solve this problem. Instead of our mayor spending tens of thousands on a radio station and Al Sharpton, we should be putting more police on the street and creating after school programs for our young people. I a liking the Gun Spotter program and would like to invest some of that money in the aforementioned programs. I wish we had a police chief and not a Hellwig. I also wish we could get on a recall this travesty of a mayor.

    A senseless death for nothing

  3. Bob, is anything NOT an opportunity to complain about the mayor? I am not a fan and agree with you, except for the way in which every opportunity becomes an chance to whine at length. You undermine your credibility and voice with your tireless bitching. Give it a rest.

  4. To 12:57pm - I can't think of one opportunity where the mayor has done anything that exhibits vision, credibility or leadershop. So I guess the answer is no.

  5. It's the whole system! We lock up people for 10 years because they are caught smoking pot! Murderers, we take care of all their worldly needs until they die . . . and if they kill again (even a CO), they get another life sentence . . . these are people who can no longer be punished! You killed while incarcerated . . . NO TV for a WEEK!!!!
We allow criminals to run rampant!
The Chinese have an answer . . . bullet to the head, then charged to the criminal's family, or slave labor if the crime is not to serious!

  6. May the killer be found quickly! How much you want to bet it's a young adult whose parents will no doubt swear up and down that "he's a good boy, not my child".

  7. To Bob: You may have amnesia. Just like the national Republians also have amnesia and are blaming all the country's problems on Obama.

You and Rob together are enless whiners and represent the worst that this city and this nation face.

Your convinient amneia will help you forget that the last Mayor (a New Democrat) left office with 15 murders in a single year.

The New Democrats had no solution to the problem. No rallys. No nothing. You know why?

These murders were not on the hill.

  8. I am sick of this hill thing. People on the hill do not wish bad upon others. People on the hill do not think it is acceptable to have people shoot at one another. People on the hill do not believe safety is a hill issue.

People on the hill do "rat out" people they believe will do harm in their neighborhood. Maybe that's the difference.
