  1. This is ridiculous, if not criminal. This is a waste of taxpayers money in a struggling economy. It did nothing to setm the violence. Where's the payment to Rev Al?
    Where are the officials?

  3. This mayor is a criminal and where do I sign on the Recall petition. You know that this cost us a fortune and I believe we need to get rid of all of Plainfield's trash and I'll be happy to help.

  4. Charged to what account ??? Obviously not one that was "Cut to the Bone" as we were lead to believe so that our fellow staff members had to be Laid-Off [or where they just not connected to anyone ?]

  5. No Comment Neccessary??

    I have a few -

    1. You did not show the top of the voucher so that we could see what account it was charged to.

    2. Can't even make out the signatures and there is only one date shown and that is the same day the check was issued which means services were paid for before they were provided. How come vendores that do business with the city on a regular basis have to wait weeks, and sometimes more than a month for a smaller payment.

    3. Would this payment have been approved if Council had to approve it first?

  6. The account number is illegible. The department head signature is SRobB. It is described as "Public Information/Community Event.
This is only part of my OPRA request. I am told more information is coming.
I doubt the council would have approved spending money on radio commercials and broadcasts.

  7. why is this wrong? She is the mayor afterall. Why is the mayor not allowed to spend tax payer's money.

What I am trying to get to is why is this wrong - which is clearly your implicaiton Bernice. What has she done wrong (even though you clearly do not like it).

  8. I guess all I am waiting to see now is the DEPOSIT slip showing the payback of the money either from the purported "sponsor" in the business community or Assistant Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs. I have stated all along, since day 1 of her materializing in city hall with her Cheshire Cat Smile that she was incompetent. I DO NOT believe she is stupid, and I fear many make that assumption thus giving her the advantage. She is calculating, cunning and devious, yes, but stupid - NO. A deposit slip will appear with a fuzzy date very soon from the purported business or maybe even JGreen Enterprises or Charlotte herself will pony up the cash, showing the money was returned. It will all be a HUGE misunderstanding and Mayor Jerry will step in and calm the mindless masses of lever pulling lemurs in the local democratic party and all will be ok. It will fade into the night as though it never occurred and all the people who voted for her and Jerry will vote for them again. I appreciate your hard work Bernice, but even you know it will take more than this to make her go away.

  9. Can someone please help out 10:29pm and explain why this is wrong (if it is wrong). Seems routine to me.

  10. The mayor spent $20,000 of our hard-earned tax money enriching an already-wealthy commercial radio station!!?? WTF!!??

$20,000 could have paid for a lot of youth programs--but instead, the mayor prefers self-promotion and fake "crime walks"--the last two of which she canceled at the last minute!

She is a one-woman tornado, leaving a path of devastation and destruction in her wake. She is truly shameless, and that is truly shameful. I am absolutely disgusted, Bernice.

  11. This is INFURIATING!

This type of expense, or better said, waste of money is an insult to every resident of this city, whether or not you pay local property taxes.

Residents should be bombarding the Mayor's office with phone calls, inquiring about this invoice and demanding answers; calling their local council-person and asking that this be looked into; and calling the press to expose this type of reprehensible and selfish behavior that is typical of small town politics and government, and does not serve to promote this city, only to promote the personal and political agenda of a few.

As for the Anonymous post of 9/4 10:29 - - asking "what is wrong with this?" - - with all due respect, perhaps you are unaware of the overall poor state of the economy in this country at present; or more specifically, you are unaware of the financial woes and problems that have plagued Plainfield for decades and contintue to do so today - - including a failing educational system, high crime rate (including murder, rape & theft), gang wars, drugs, crumbling buildings (literally) and a poor reputation with neighboring communities, to name a few.

That being said, perhaps you may now understand why this type of expenditure is wrong. Perhpas you may now be able to better determine how $20,000.00 could be put to better use, in a manner that will effectively benefit all the residents of Plainfield and not just benefit the personal and political intersts a few.

Unfotunately, Plainfield is not yet a destination town such as Lambertville, New Hope, Nyack or even Somerville where there ARE notable public activities and events requiring a broad-based marketing strategy. Even then, there are more economical ways of reaching out to the local community and promoting local activities, some of them which include FREE public relations on local radio stations and newspapers.

It is time that residents of this city start to organize and unite to fight the corruption that goes on in this city on a daily basis. We are being "ripped-off" every single day and it must stop and those in charge must be held accountable now.

This community belongs to everyone who lives here; and for way too long the residents that truly care about this city, I believe, feel as they have been continually underserved and underrepresented, feeling helpless in a helpless situation.

A few so-called leaders and community activists have hi-jacked this city, and it is in their interest, that this city stays divided along socio-economic lines. It keeps them gainfully employed.

Let's work to change this. Let's start now.
Call the Mayor and demand answers.

  12. Don't miss the connection with Recreation. She allows dw to do what he wants regardless of the logic or appropriateness. He has no conscious nor does she. They are joined at the hip in their corruption. Hopefully the City Council will continue their quest to get to the bottom of it.

  13. What the City did money-wise about this affair is unfortunate. What the broadcasters (BLS and LIB) did was unethical and would have lost them their licenses awhile back. All of this is in the form of free Public Service programming, in the public interest, convenience and necessity.
    Shame on you all!
