Mayor's Veto: Is It Timely?

Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs has vetoed two ordinances passed by the City Council in August, one to permit governing body review of all bills and another to increase the bidding threshold.

As Dr. Harold Yood points out on his blog, the city's special charter establishes a timetable for such a move and the mayor may not have met it. It will be up to the governing body to challenge the timing, but the initial arbiter will be the corporation counsel, who serves both the mayor and the council as set forth in same charter.

Hmm. Wonder how this will turn out?

  1. Corporation Council must have a job on the side, because he doesn't seem to know a thing about what is going on in Plainfield. He has no idea that the person signing checks in lieu of having CFO needs advise and consent of council?

I wouldn't believe that he would know the answer to the question to begin with. Thank goodness for proper reporting from you, Bernice.
