What a hot mess traffic was today. A desaster for the merchants. I was very hard to find a place to park. There was no information available about where to park or general info about the race. The bike race was nice to see,but the City did a piss poor job promoting it.
I have no doubt that right after you posted this whining drivel you called city hall and offered your expertise for next years bike race - or do you prefer Monday morning quarterbacking to actually getting your hands dirty?
Traffic was a mess and this was not as well organized as it should have been. I'm glad we had a nice event like this, but complaints about the way it was done are not "drivel". I'm a supporter of the mayor, but will let this administration know when they could have done better, and they could have here. Let's learn from this and move forward. I added 15 extra minutes to get to church because of road closures, because I knew the roads would be a mess.
Bob - with all due respect it is drivel. Of course traffic was messy, roads were closed - that is why you give yourself extra time to get where you are going. I think there are always things to learn from every event and project. I also think that some things are painfully obvious, like traffic will be messy when roads are closed so that complaint tends to fall into the drivel category.
I hope the administration will let us know how the merchants did, and any feedback they received from yesterday's event.
Judging from the crowds, it looked like it was hugely successful. Thanks to all who brought this positive activity to Plainfield. I hope the administration plans on more of these events.
How about building a velodrom where the hospital used to be? There's one in Berlin, Spain has several most of Europe have them and they make big big money with national and international events- there aren't to many in these parts... it's a thought- and attatched to it could be a world class medical community.. One can dream. Congrats on the race it was better than great.
I have been reporting on Plainfield for more than 30 years, first at the Plainfield Today weekly, then at the Courier News and after retirement on the Plainfield Plaintalker blog and its successor, Plaintalker II.
