Please be aware that the road closures for Sunday's bike races will impact traffic in a much wider area than the immediate route, due in part to Plainfield's numerous one-way streets.

The City employee who set this up should be fired! The merchants still have not been advised about where they are going to be able to park or how their employees are going to be able to park at the train station
ReplyDeleteAgree this event planner should be fired. Good idea for bike race, but not downtown where you close down a church and train station on Sunday.
DeleteWhy are the streets closed around the race day event? Did the city mail a letter letting residents know that they will not be able to get in or out of their street on race day? I did see any advertising about this event in the currier or star ledger today. I looked for info in the magazine I got 2 weeks ago,but did not find any info about a bike race.
ReplyDeleteSign up for the city notification system so you can get info. Check the website. Put a little effort into doing something on your own instead of complaining that you are not being spoon fed.
ReplyDeleteThere were electronic signs placed when work was being done on the train overpass. I get multiple mailings when it's time to vote. The city can do better than this. Not everyone has internet access or the inclination to see what events might complicate their lives.
DeleteTo all the hysterical drama queens - I would suggest moving out to the woods - you could avoid even the slightest of inconveniences associated with living in a populated area and you would have a nice quite place to be negative.
ReplyDeleteClosing down access to a church and trainstation as well as many City streets all day is more than a little inconvenient! Why such short notice and only a small circle of politically connected friends of the Mayor involved? Why were the merchants not involved in the planning?
DeleteThis could have been planned better, to be less of an inconvenience for the residents of the city, but it is not a bad thing for Plainfield. I've heard from several people who attend church along the bike route and they were not given much consideration. Hopefully, if this is done next year a better route through side streets avoiding churches and downtown might be a better. plan
ReplyDeleteGuess it's now time for you all to complain about 4th of July parade.
ReplyDeleteCome on bring it on don't wait. Maybe the parade can fly.
What nerve, and less than a week later they're gonna shut down E. Front St. and hold an Independence Day parade! Get to church and pray that we remain a backwater of New Jersey.
ReplyDeleteThe parade is a historical well planned event. It is only for a few hours and only shuts down Front St,and not the train station or parking lots.
DeleteWe all know about the parade that goes down Front St. It is an annual event that lasts a couple of hours. I can still park and get to the train station where I have a permit to park. The permit holders were not advised that they were going to be shut out all day from a space they paid for!
DeleteThe Mayor at election time invades our homes with post cards, letters, and phone calls for the Democrats. For such an important event for " all citizens and merchants " then why didn't he do the same?
ReplyDeleteWhat idles the Mayor have against the merchants? He did not inform the SID or the Merchants about business interruption and lack of a place to park. Who was the planner for this event. The person who poorly planned this event should be fired.
ReplyDeleteAm trying to figure out which of this cry babies is Mr X.
ReplyDeleteI hardly know where to begin.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I think whoever planned this should be given a medal. This brings business and positive recognition to Plainfield.
Second - was anyone at the City Council meeting where business owners spoke at the meeting thanking the city for doing this because it meant more business for them? Which logically means that they knew about this event. So - for those who say they businesses didn't know, how do you know that?
Lastly, this is one day! One day to bring positive recognition to this city - are we really so self centered as a community that we cannot give 8 hours to the city to promote it and bring good press as it deserves?
Again, people have no clue what they are talking about, they just repeat without doing any research. It seems to be the Plainfield way - lazy.
Wher do you go to enter this race? I looked on the Mayors blog and did one see any information about the race. I could not find information on the city web site.
ReplyDeleteI did not see any advertising in the paper or the Mayors blog today. I guess the bike race is just not that big of a deal after all to him
