Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, so make sure to vote.
Democrats and Republicans can vote in the primary for presidential candidates, a member of the House of Representatives, freeholders, Citywide at-large council person and Third Ward council member. Republican may also vote for members of the GOP County Committee and will meet Monday, June 13 to reorganize for two years. Check your sample ballot for your polling place and to review your choices.
Independent candidates may file for City Council seats by 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Union County Clerk's office. Candidates need a minimum of 87 signatures on petitions to run for the citywide at-large seat and a minimum of 23 signatures on petitions for the Third Ward seat. Primary winners and independents will be on the November ballot.
This campaign season has been unusual for the use of a Plainfield site on Facebook as a battleground. The site is normally a place to announce events or share non-political information about the city.

ReplyDeleteAt my polling place, there was a polls worker wearing a Jerry Springer t-shirt. I think it's an apt political statement regarding some of the things we've seen this election season both local and national.
